Reach your dreams by winning the day
The other day I overheard a very wise woman say “I find that those who do what needs to be done on a daily basis are generally happy and successful, but those who don’t suffer.” I could not agree more. Luckily, I figured this out in my college years. No doubt, the successes in your life didn’t just come to you; you went after them by doing what you needed to do.
I call doing what needs to be done on a daily basis, winning the day. Winning the day for me also means taking action toward my goals every day. It means accomplishing the top three things on my to-do list every day. Winning the day also means improving myself a little bit every day, whether it is learning a new skill or seeking out new challenges.
One way to ensure you take action every day on your goals is to have a daily routine. For each important area of your life, build actions into your daily routine to touch on all of those areas.
For me, my morning routine is key for setting myself up for success each day. I have health goals, personal goals, and business goals that I want to work toward every day. Thus, my morning routine entails the following:
- Drink a large glass of water with a splash of Bragg’s apple cider vinegar
- Take a walk around the block
- Speak my daily mantra out loud
- Do 10 pushups (or other isometric strength routine)
- Plan my day and create my to-do list
- Plan the day’s meals
- Eat a high protein breakfast
What is your morning routine, and how can you tweak it to ensure you work toward your goals on a daily basis?
